GIM2010 is pleased to offer its participants and accompanying persons four optional pre and post symposium tours which will showcase some of the best aspects of Melbourne and Australia. Your ‘Australian' experience Down Under will be complete by exploring our wonderful destination through these tours.

These tours are not included in registration fees. If you would like to book a tour, please indicate when registering.

Great Ocean Road pre tour

Date: Saturday 26 – Sunday 27 June 2010
Duration: 2 days/1 night
Cost: A$366.00 per person based on double occupancy
A$478.00 per person based on single occupancy

The Great Ocean Road is one of the world's great drives, a dramatic, powerful, dangerous and majestic coastline, also know as the Ship Wreck Coast. Travel through the Otway National Park, to the rugged beauty of the Twelve Apostle National Park and the Twelve Apostles themselves. 

Includes 2 full days of touring, one night's accommodation

Yarra Valley Experience tour

Date: Saturday 26 – Sunday 27 June 2010
Duration: 2 days/1 night
Cost: A$536.00 per person based on double occupancy
A$628.00 per person based on single occupancy

Over two magnificent days, discover a wonderland that is only one hour from Melbourne’s CBD. Experience one of the world's greatest animal sanctuarys at Healesville and visit a combination of small and large wineries. The tour includes lunch on both days, breakfast on Day 2 and overnight accommodation in a specially selected Bed & Breakfast.

Includes 2 full days of touring, one nights B&B accommodation, morning tea, visits to 4-5 wineries for tastings each day, lunch on both day, 2 course dinner including a bottle of wine and breakfast. 

 Reef & Rainforest post tour

Date: Friday 2– Monday 5 July 2010
Duration: 4 days/3 nights
Cost: A$1050.00 per person based on double occupancy
A$1630.00 per person based on single occupancy

North of Cairns discover one of the most beautiful regions of Australia. Here, at the meeting point of an ancient rainforest and the Earth’s largest living coral structure, slow to a unique rhythm found only in Tropical North Queensland. Based in the exclusive village of Palm Cove, highlights include swimming and snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef and discovering the beauty of the World Heritage listed Daintree rainforest.

Includes airport transfers, two full day tours, three night's deluxe accommodation, breakfast daily and lunch on two days. Flights to/from Cairns are not included in the tour price.

Spectacular Sydney post tour

Date: Friday 2 – Monday 5 July 2010
Duration: 4 days/3 nights
Cost: A$750.00 per person based on double occupancy
A$1270.00 per person based on single occupancy

Famous for its golden beaches, spectacular architecture and magnificent harbour, Sydney is the birthplace of the Australian nation. Its natural harbour is unsurpassed in beauty, framed by the iconic Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Explore the city including a visit to world renowned Bondi Beach and see all the beauty of the city on a harbour cruise.

Includes airport transfers, half day city tour, Sydney Harbour sightseeing cruise, three night's deluxe accommodation, breakfast daily. Flights to/from Sydney are not included in the tour price.

Pre and Post Tour Terms and Conditions

These tours, designed by arinex Destination Management (license No. 2TA001144), are for participating delegates and accompanying persons of the 11th International Symposium on the Genetics of Industrial Microorganisms.

Reservations should reach arinex Destination Management no later than 14 May 2010 and full payment is required at that time. No space on tours will be reserved without payment.  Bookings will be acknowledged and participants advised of final details closer to the 11th International Symposium on the Genetics of Industrial Microorganisms.

Further details can be supplied in a more detailed day-by-day itinerary when requested.

Comfortable shoes and clothing are recommended for all tours. For any outdoor tours we recommend that participants bring sun protection cream, sunhat and sunglasses.

Maximum Numbers

The number of participants on ALL tours is limited and places will be allocated strictly in order of receipt of payment.

Minimum Numbers

All tours are based on a minimum number of participants. If minimum numbers are not reached, alternative arrangements or a complete refund may need to be made.

Airfares

Domestic airfares are not included in the ground cost of the tour. Once your flight schedule for the post tour is confirmed, please email the details to the arinex Destination Management, gim2010@arinex.com.au to arrange your airport transfers.

Cancellation Fees

Prior to 14 May 2010, full refund less A$100 administration fee applies. After this date no refunds will be applicable.

Late Fees

If bookings are received for post tours after 14 May 2010, a late fee of A$100 per booking will be applicable.
